Why Demolition Quotes Differ on the Sunshine Coast

Why nobody can price it blind

We don't publish a price list because the details decide the number. A contractor needs to see the site. Here is what they are looking at.

Size and construction

More building means more machine time and more loads. Timber is lighter to cart but brick, tile and concrete are heavy. Multi level homes and steep blocks take longer than a single storey home on flat ground.

Asbestos

This is often the biggest swing in a quote. Fibro has to come off first, by a licensed removalist, and go to a site that accepts it. Test early so it isn't a surprise.

Access

A broad driveway on level ground is simple. A battle axe block, a steep Buderim driveway or a tight beachside lane may need smaller machines and more truck trips, and possibly traffic control.

What is included

Slabs, stumps, pools, sheds, fences, trees and paths are all extra work. A quote that looks cheap may leave them behind. Check the scope line by line.

Disposal

Tip fees are a real cost, and what the waste is made of matters. Clean concrete and steel can often be recycled. Mixed waste generally costs more. Distance to the nearest suitable facility also counts, especially in the hinterland.

Paperwork and services

Permit fees, certifier costs and service disconnections may or may not be included. Ask.

How to compare quotes

Line them up on scope first and price second, and ask each contractor about anything missing. To get a site specific figure, [send us a few details](/contact) and a local contractor will be in touch.
