Pool, Shed & Partial Demolition on the Sunshine Coast

Not every job is a whole house. Old pools, sheds, carports, decks and rear extensions all come out on their own. Send a few details and a local contractor will take a look.

Pool removal

A concrete or fibreglass pool can be broken up and carted away, or sometimes partly broken up and filled, depending on what you plan to do with the yard. If you want to build there later, tell the contractor before they quote, as a future slab has very different needs to a lawn. Access is the main thing that changes the job. A narrow side path may mean a small machine and more trips.

Sheds, garages and carports

Older sheds and garages on the coast can have fibro walls or a corrugated asbestos roof, so have that checked first. Steel sheds may only need the frame unbolted, with the slab cut out if you want it gone.

Part of a house

Removing an extension, verandah or a section of a home takes more care, because what remains has to stay sound and weather tight. Sunshine Coast Council lists part demolition as work needing a permit, so talk to a certifier and, where structure is involved, an engineer.

Getting rid of the material

Sunshine Coast Council lists Buderim, Caloundra and Nambour among its sites taking concrete and bricks. Your contractor will tell you where material from your job is going. Check the council website for current site rules if you are carting anything yourself.

FAQs

Pool, Shed & Partial Demolition — common questions

Do I need approval to remove a pool?

It can depend on the property and what is being done. A certifier or the contractor can confirm what your job needs.

Can a machine get into my backyard?

Often, yes. Small excavators fit through narrow gaps, and the contractor will measure access at the inspection.

Got something coming down?

A few details are all it takes. Someone local will call to arrange a site visit, with no obligation.
